Good Vibe Waterfalls

September 26, 2015

I'm semi addicted to chasing waterfalls and recently I discovered the reason behind this addiction, waterfalls make people happy.  It sounds crazy at first but it makes sense.  If we look into a microscope we'll see that waterfalls produce negatively charged ions in the surround air.  When a person inhales negative ions, their blood becomes enriched with good vibes.  There has been some research on this subject such as Pierce J. Howard, a Ph.D. and author of The Owner's Manual for the Brain: Everyday Applications from Mind-Brain Research.  Howard claims:
"High concentrations of negative ions are essential for high energy and positive mood," he reports. "Negative ions suppress serotonin levels in much the same way that natural sunlight suppresses melatonin. Hence the invigorating effect of fresh air and sunshine and the correspondingly depressed feelings associated with being closed in and dark."
He continues:
"The atmosphere we breathe normally is full of positive and negative ions," he adds. "Air-conditioning, lack of ventilation, and long dry spells remove negative ions."
He adds:
"The best ratios of negative to positive ions are associated with waterfalls and the time before, during, and after storms," says Howard. "The worst are found in windowless rooms and closed, moving vehicles."
It's not just waterfalls that have this negative ion effect, the beach is another example.  Anywhere that has water colliding with water, will have an atmosphere full of negative ions.  One of my favorite things to do is to hike and search for waterfalls and now I know why.

Feel Good 1: Focus on Your Passion

November 5, 2014

I read the most amazing book the yesterday.  It told me to take an hour out of my day, everyday, to focus or build on my passion.  This amazing book is putting me back on track to achieve my goal and I'm going to try my best to stay on it.  Everybody should incorporate this into their lives to keep their passion burning and their dream into reality.  Google incorporates this practice, their employees are allowed one hour of creative free time to work on their own project.  Even if your current project or goal doesn't work out, at least you'll learn something from it and you can grow from your mistake and move onto something new.  Progress and growth are the key, whether it be personal, emotional, career, educational, or inspirational; do something, it'll help you be happy and give you purpose.  If you are not growing, you need to put yourself in a position where you can start growing again.

Once you realize what your passion is, drive for it.  Your passion is your goal in life for the time being and you need to work hard until that fire burns out.  Don't worry if your passion fades, most do.  When it does adjust.  Take some time to discover the world or yourself and find a new passion.  Your new passion will be your new goal in life and it will be your new purpose.  Remember your passion is your mission.  It is your goal and your purpose in life.  Everybody's purpose is different and some might have more than others.  When the fire is burning, let it burn uncontrollably and fuel your passion.  Tackle it like a double cheeseburger combo from In n Out after a 3 day music festival.

Try not to get distracted.  Don't watch TV or dabble in addicting.  These things will prolong you from achieving your goal.  Remember that you're on a mission and that your time is valuable.  Every second counts.  Make the most of it because life is too short

It's Sunday. Here's Your Feel Good Story of the Week

March 2, 2014

For one day, the great city of San Francisco transformed into the Dark Metropolitan known as Gotham City.  Villains and criminals ran wild; mayhem was as prevalent as the smell of smoke and fire.  The police could not maintain this disruption of peace and help was nowhere to be found.  Gotham City has been taken.  Or has it?

An unexpected visitor has arrived.  It's..it's Batkid!  If you haven't heard, Batkid has made his first appearance in public eyes and his real identity has also been revealed!  Batkid, aka Miles Scott, was able to help clean the streets of Gotham City by defeating every, single, bad guy with some help of Batman.  Watch this heartwarming video to see how a 5-year-old cancer survivor's dreams came true.

TAKE OR LEAVE YOUR COAT!

TAKE OR LEAVE YOUR COAT!
(Sao Paulo, Winter, 2013)

When nine people died due to the unusual low temperatures in Sao Paulo last week, this group of friends decided they could do something.

They’ve created the wall of coats (but you can also find pants and blankets there) in the middle of the street.

Anybody can hang a coat on the wall and anybody can grab one. There are no rules.

The project is a success, and many people (mostly homeless people) are a little warmer today.

The goal is to keep the wall full of coats for the whole winter. But they are thinking ahead, and by October, when it’s Children’s Day in Brazil, the idea is to turn the wall of coats into a wall of toys.

When The Power Of Love Overcomes The Love Of Power...

October 29, 2013

A young African American woman steps in to protect a nazi.June 22, 1996. A dozen members of a self-anointed and unwelcome KKK group came to Ann Arbor to hold a thumb-in-your-eye rally at City Hall. A protest group, the National Women's Rights Organizations Coalition (NWROC) formed to oppose them. After the rage had been mounting for awhile, this simpleminded redneck wandered up, wearing a Confederate-flag T-shirt. The crowd tore off after him, he fell, and the mob pounced. Keshia Thomas, horrified, threw herself over him to stave off the angry blows. Moments earlier, Thomas, 18, had been in the NWROC group, shouting at the KKK. It was a heroic and passionate moment in a crazy afternoon, well captured in these photographs.

20 Surprising Facts About Happiness

March 11, 2013

A lot of research has been done on the psychology of happiness in the past fifty years. Understanding what makes most people happier in their lives is an important step to making your own life happier.

Here are 20 facts about happiness you may find surprising.

1. Your genes and family upbringing account for only half of your happiness levels.

2. Only 10 percent of your happiness comes from external circumstances.

3. Your outlook on life, and what you choose to do with your life accounts for 40 percent of your happiness levels. This includes your friendships, work, and participation in your community.

4. It gets easier as you age. A 2005 U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention survey showed ages 20-24 are sad for 3.4 days per month. Those aged between 65-74 are sad only 2.3 days per month

5. A mere 20 minutes of exercise, three days each week will increase your happiness by 10 to 20 percent after six months.
